Bob Gist and Brad Carlisle, State Farm agents from Arkansas and Tennessee, went on a fishing trip to Grenada Lake in Mississippi with the help of local fishing guide Jordan Chrestman. While out on the water, they heard barking and saw a group of dogs in the water, participating in an annual fox run. The dogs were attempting to chase a deer, and the men decided to help them when they realized the animals were in danger of drowning.

The fishermen, along with Chrestman, immediately started rescuing the dogs and bringing them onto the boat to prevent them from drowning. They managed to fit around 25 to 27 dogs onto the boat before running out of space. After returning the dogs to the bank, they discovered the owners frantically searching for their pets. The men were then approached by a man with a GPS tracker for the dogs, who led them to another group of dogs further out in the water.

The second group of dogs was found to be treading water for over an hour and on the verge of drowning. The men worked together to rescue these dogs as well, bringing them back to safety. The group’s quick thinking and teamwork ultimately saved the lives of 38 dogs who were at risk of drowning. The owner of the dogs attempted to reward Chrestman for his heroic actions, but he refused, attributing the successful rescue to the combined efforts of all involved.

Gist praised Chrestman as the true hero of the rescue mission, acknowledging the young guide’s quick thinking and bravery in the face of a potentially tragic situation. Despite being older than Chrestman, Gist expressed admiration and gratitude for the young man’s decisive actions that ultimately led to the successful rescue of the dogs. While Chrestman played a significant role in the operation, Gist emphasized the importance of everyone coming together to bring the animals to safety.

The heartwarming story of the dog rescue on Grenada Lake serves as a reminder of the power of teamwork and quick action in times of crisis. The men involved, including Bob Gist, Brad Carlisle, and Jordan Chrestman, demonstrated compassion and courage in rescuing the dogs from a dangerous situation. Their collaborative efforts and determination ultimately saved the lives of 38 dogs, showcasing the impact that individuals can have when they work together towards a common goal. The successful outcome of the rescue mission highlights the importance of looking out for one another, whether human or animal, in times of need.
