Taylor Swift is set to release her new album The Tortured Poets Department, and as the world anticipates another massive success, her recent hit “Cruel Summer” reaches a significant milestone. The electro-pop track has now spent 48 weeks on the Hot 100 chart, tying it as the fifth-longest-charting hit of Swift’s career.

With its forty-eighth week on the Hot 100, “Cruel Summer” is now tied with another one of Swift’s hits, “Teardrops on My Guitar,” which also spent 48 weeks on the chart back in 2008. Swift’s longest-running Hot 100 hit remains “Anti-Hero,” which spent over a year on the chart with 53 weeks of presence before falling off.

The second-longest-charting singles of Swift’s career are both tied at 50 weeks on the Hot 100. “Shake It Off” and “You Belong With Me” have both had impressive runs on the chart. Following closely behind is “Love Story,” which managed 49 weeks on the Hot 100 during its peak, just one week ahead of “Cruel Summer” for now.

Despite its lengthy stay on the Hot 100 chart, “Cruel Summer” continues to climb, moving up from No. 16 to No. 14 this week. This is a notable achievement, especially with the chart being filled with new releases from Beyoncé’s album Cowboy Carter. The track finally reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in October 2023, over four years after its initial release on the album Lover.

As fans eagerly await the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Swift’s success on the Hot 100 continues to solidify her status as one of the biggest artists in the music industry. With numerous chart-topping hits and a dedicated fan base, Swift’s new album is expected to make a huge impact upon its release. “Cruel Summer” serves as a preview of what’s to come from the superstar as she prepares to unleash her latest musical project.
