Six migrants accused of viciously attacking two NYPD police officers in Times Square in January were offered plea deals on Tuesday. Yohenry Brito, Ulises Bohorquez, and Andres Gomez-Izquiel were offered a year in jail for pleading guilty to second-degree assault. Kelvin Servita Arocha and Wilson Juarez were offered six months for pleading guilty to obstructing a government administration, while Yorman Reveron was offered two years for second-degree assault. The defendants’ attorneys have not yet accepted the plea deals.

It was revealed that one of the accused cop beaters, Yohenry Brito, was rearrested for trying to steal children’s clothing and fragrances from Macy’s in Herald Square. Judge Laura Wood criticized Brito in Manhattan Criminal Court and warned him that any future crimes would lead to high bail and imprisonment. Brito was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The defendants were ordered to return to court on June 18, where a trial date will be set if no agreement is reached.

In the January attack, the NYPD asked the migrants to move, leading to a scuffle as the officers tried to subdue a person in a yellow jacket. One of the migrants stomped on a lieutenant’s head while another kicked the other officer in the back. Another migrant attempted to kick the lieutenant’s head as well. The incident sparked public outrage and calls for migrant deportations. The defendants are yet to accept the plea deals offered by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
