Microsoft is releasing a revamped version of its Copilot personal AI assistant with new design and features, including a daily news summary, natural voice interactions, and the ability to act as a companion when browsing the web. The release highlights the company’s broader vision for consumer artificial intelligence services under Mustafa Suleyman, the CEO of Microsoft AI. Microsoft faces challenges in standing out in a competitive field with competitors such as Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, and ChatGPT from OpenAI, but it has the advantage of leveraging its existing platforms to drive Copilot adoption for personal use.

The new features of the revamped Copilot personal interface include Copilot Voice for smoother and more fluid conversations, as well as Copilot Daily, an audio feature that provides users with personalized daily briefings. Microsoft is partnering with news organizations like Reuters, Axel Springer, Hearst Magazines, and the Financial Times for the Copilot Daily feature. The company also announced Copilot Labs, a platform that gives users access to experimental features before they are widely released, such as Copilot Vision and Think Deeper, which provide real-time content interpretation and handling of complex questions, respectively.

In addition to the new features, Microsoft is launching Copilot Labs as part of its $20/month Copilot Pro subscription service. The company also announced new Copilot+ PCs with enhanced Windows search capabilities, the ability to upscale image resolution in the Photos app, and a feature called “Click to Do,” which suggests quick actions for the user. The flagship feature of Copilot+ PCs, Recall, was delayed due to privacy and security concerns but is now scheduled to roll out to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs in October and on new Intel- and AMD-powered Copilot+ PCs in November.

Microsoft’s revamped Copilot personal AI assistant is accessible from various platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows, and the Copilot web portal. Two standout features include Copilot Voice for more fluid conversations and Copilot Daily for personalized daily briefings. The company also announced Copilot Labs, which provides users with access to experimental features before wider release, including Copilot Vision and Think Deeper for real-time content interpretation and handling complex questions.

Microsoft’s partnership with news organizations for the Copilot Daily feature further enhances its capabilities, and the company is continuing to innovate with its Copilot Pro subscription service. The newly announced features for Copilot+ PCs, such as enhanced search capabilities and the Recall feature, demonstrate Microsoft’s commitment to improving the user experience. Despite facing competition in the AI assistant market, Microsoft is leveraging its existing platforms and partnerships to drive adoption of its revamped Copilot personal AI assistant.
