On Memorial Day weekend, the DMV area will hold various events to honor and remember those who have served our country. The Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation in Southwest D.C. will host a Memorial Day Ceremony and Wreath Presentation on Monday, May 27, to pay tribute to all who served during the Korean War, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Guests can attend in person or watch the ceremony live. Arlington National Cemetery will also host Flowers of Remembrance Day on Sunday, May 26, where visitors can place flowers at headstones or columbarium niches throughout the cemetery.

The City of Rockville will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade on May 27. The parade will feature over 50 military units and community groups, as well as dance troupes. The event will kick off with a musical tribute at 9 a.m., followed by the ceremony and parade starting at 10:30 a.m. In addition to these observances, the National Memorial Day Concert will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 26, honoring veterans, servicemen and women, and military families. The concert will also be livestreamed on PBS’ Youtube channel.

Aside from Memorial Day events, other celebrations are scheduled for the weekend. DC Black Pride will hold festivities throughout the weekend to celebrate the African American LGBTQ+ community. Attendees can enjoy live music, social events, educational workshops, and more. ViVa! Vienna!, an annual event in the Town of Vienna, will offer a weekend of rides, games, food, and fun from May 25 to May 27. All proceeds from the event will go towards local charities, making it a fun way to support the community while enjoying the holiday weekend.

These events and observances provide opportunities for individuals in the DMV area to come together and honor those who have served our country. Whether attending a ceremony, parade, concert, or community event, there are numerous ways to show gratitude and respect for our military members and their families. From paying tribute at Arlington National Cemetery to enjoying a fun-filled weekend at ViVa! Vienna!, there are activities for all ages and interests, ensuring a meaningful and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend for all.
