Marjorie Taylor Greene has recently sparked speculation regarding Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, suggesting that his views have shifted significantly since taking on the role. Speaking on Tucker Carlson Uncensored, Greene expressed concern over Johnson’s apparent changes in character, leading to questions of whether he might be “blackmailed.” Despite these claims, there is currently no evidence to support such speculations. Johnson’s office was contacted for comment, but no response has been provided.

Greene pointed out that Johnson, a Christian and conservative, has departed from his previous views by supporting aid for Ukraine and the $1.2 trillion spending bill to fund government agencies, which were both passed recently. This shift in stance has raised concerns among some, prompting Greene to question whether Johnson may be facing some form of coercion. When asked by Carlson if she believed Johnson was being blackmailed, Greene admitted that she had no concrete evidence to support this theory, but emphasized that Johnson’s policy changes since becoming Speaker are cause for concern.

Despite initially supporting Johnson as Speaker after his predecessor Kevin McCarthy was ousted, Greene’s views on him have since shifted. She has criticized Johnson for his handling of the spending bill and plans to introduce a vote on the aid package for Ukraine. Additionally, Greene has raised concerns about Johnson’s border policy, arguing that he has failed to effectively address issues such as illegal immigration and child exploitation. These criticisms have further strained Greene’s relationship with Johnson.

In response to concerns raised by Greene and others, Johnson has suggested that a standalone vote on the aid package for Ukraine may take place soon after Congress returns from its Easter break on April 9. However, Greene remains skeptical of Johnson’s actions and continues to question his motives as Speaker of the House. She believes that Johnson has acquiesced to policies that she views as detrimental, such as fully funding President Biden’s border policies without putting up a fight against what she perceives as a threat to national security.

While Greene’s speculation about Johnson being blackmailed has not been substantiated, her concerns about his policy shifts and leadership decisions remain a point of contention. Johnson’s changing stance on key issues, including aid for Ukraine and border security, has raised questions about his motivations and priorities as Speaker of the House. As tensions between Greene and Johnson persist, it remains to be seen how their interactions and conflicting viewpoints will impact legislative decisions and the overall functioning of the House of Representatives.
