A 62-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Philip Pulley, is facing federal charges for allegedly voting in two states during the 2020 general election. The charges include falsely registering to vote, double voting, and election fraud. Pulley was registered to vote in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, since 2005 but also registered to vote in Broward County, Florida, in August 2018 using his home address in Lighthouse Point. He is accused of maintaining his home address in both counties and providing false information on an application to vote in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, in February 2020.

Investigators claim that Pulley applied for a mail ballot in Philadelphia County and submitted an absentee ballot in Broward County while also voting in person in Montgomery County on Election Day in November 2020. He allegedly voted for president and vice president in all three counties. Pulley is also accused of casting a vote during the 2022 midterm election in all three counties, including voting twice for the open Senate seat in Pennsylvania that year. The charges against Pulley carry a maximum possible sentence of five years and other penalties such as supervised release and a fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nancy Potts and Mark Dubnoff are prosecuting the case, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Pennsylvania stated that they could not provide additional information as the prosecution is ongoing. The Department of Justice has been contacted for further details, but an attorney for Pulley has not been listed as of the current time. Former President Donald Trump has claimed that the 2020 election was stolen from him due to widespread voter fraud, although evidence has not supported these claims. A report by the Associated Press found fewer than 475 potential cases of voter fraud in the six battleground states that Trump challenged the election results in.

The charges against Pulley highlight the importance of upholding election integrity and holding individuals accountable for illegal voting practices. As the case progresses, more information may be revealed about Pulley’s motives and actions leading up to the 2020 general election. The accusations of double voting and providing false information on voter registration applications raise concerns about the potential impact of fraudulent voting on election outcomes. The case will likely serve as a reminder of the consequences individuals may face for violating election laws.

With the ongoing prosecution of Pulley, legal experts and election officials may examine ways to prevent similar incidents of voter fraud in the future. The investigation and prosecution of individuals accused of illegal voting practices are essential for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that every vote counts. The charges against Pulley emphasize the need for strict enforcement of election laws and the importance of upholding the democratic principles of fair and transparent elections. As the case unfolds, it will be vital to assess any systemic issues that may have contributed to the alleged actions of the defendant and take steps to address them effectively.
