LSU linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. will miss the rest of the 2024 season after sustaining a knee injury during a game against UCLA. Tigers head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that Perkins tore his ACL and expressed disappointment for the player. With Perkins expected to declare for the NFL Draft after the season, the team will need another player to step up in his absence. Perkins, a preseason AP All-America selection, had a strong sophomore season with 5.5 sacks and 75 total tackles, following a successful freshman year with 7.5 sacks and 72 total tackles.

The injury occurred in the first quarter when Perkins was attempting to make a tackle against UCLA. He had only 1.5 tackles for a loss in the first four games of the season before the injury. Looking ahead, sophomore Whit Weeks is next on the depth chart behind Perkins and is likely to be called upon to fill the void. Additional players such as West Weeks and JK Johnson will also have an opportunity to contribute for the Tigers in Perkins’ absence. LSU is scheduled to face South Alabama before entering the heart of the SEC schedule where they hope to build on their recent win against South Carolina.

Travis Hunter is considered the best player in college football by some, with his standout performances catching attention. While Perkins’ injury is a setback for LSU, the team is confident in their depth and believes they have quality players who can step in and make a difference. The loss of Perkins is significant, but the team is focused on moving forward and continuing to compete at a high level. The Tigers have had a mixed start to the season with a loss to USC and a win against South Carolina, and they will aim to build momentum in the upcoming games.

Despite Perkins’ absence, LSU is looking to maintain their competitiveness and make a strong showing in the games ahead. Perkins’ injury is a blow to the team, but they are determined to overcome this setback and show their resilience on the field. With talented players ready to step up and fill the gap left by Perkins, the team is optimistic about their prospects going forward. The Tigers are preparing to face South Alabama before diving into the challenging SEC schedule, where they will face tough opponents and strive to secure victories. LSU remains focused and determined to continue their pursuit of success in the remainder of the season.
