The Los Angeles District Attorney has expressed their concern over a video that resurfaced showing Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie. The D.A.’s office stated that the conduct depicted in the video occurred in 2016, making it beyond the timeline where a crime can be prosecuted. While they have not been presented with a case related to the attack in the video against Mr. Combs, they encourage any victims or witnesses of a crime to report it to law enforcement or seek support from their office’s Bureau of Victims Services.

CNN released a video of Diddy and Cassie from 2016, showing Diddy physically assaulting Cassie in a hotel security footage. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck before shoving, dragging, and kicking her repeatedly. Cassie’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, described the video as “gut-wrenching” and confirmed the disturbing behavior of Mr. Combs. Diddy has not publicly addressed the video and remains silent about the incident. The Los Angeles Police Department has acknowledged the video and is aware of the situation.

Diddy and Cassie dated on and off between 2007 and 2018, with Cassie suing the music mogul in November 2023 for sexual assault and physical abuse over a 10-year period. They settled their case the next day, with Diddy continuing to deny all allegations made against him. Cassie’s legal action prompted other individuals to come forward with similar accusations against Diddy, all of which he has denied. One anonymous complaint against him was filed for dismissal earlier in the month.

In March, Diddy’s homes in L.A. and Miami were raided by Homeland Security in connection to a federal sex trafficking investigation. Diddy has not been charged or arrested in connection to any crime in this case. His attorney, Aaron Dyer, criticized the use of excessive force during the search warrants at Diddy’s residences, stating that there was no excuse for the level of hostility displayed by authorities and the treatment of his children and employees during the raids.

It is important that victims of sexual assault seek support and assistance. The National Sexual Assault Hotline can be contacted at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) for help and guidance. The allegations and legal battles surrounding Diddy’s behavior towards Cassie and others have raised serious concerns about his conduct and interactions with women, leading to investigations and public scrutiny.
