Lizzo announced her decision to quit the music industry on Instagram due to feeling constantly dragged by the media and people in her life. She expressed a desire to make music, make people happy, and contribute positively to the world but felt unwanted due to the lies and negative portrayal of her character. The singer has been facing accusations of sexual harassment from her former dancers, creating a hostile work environment, and allowing bullying, harassment, and racial discrimination on her team. Lizzo denied these allegations and mentioned being tired of being the butt of jokes and her character being picked apart based on her appearance.

The singer, known for hits like “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell,” has recently been involved in political events and launched her clothing line, Yitty. In an interview with the New York Times, Lizzo discussed her weight loss journey and self-care routine in detail. She mentioned that she is taking the time to love her body and emphasized that her feelings towards her body change every day. Despite previously being a champion of body positivity, Lizzo now aligns more with the concept of body neutrality, focusing on acceptance and neutrality towards her body image. She chose not to delve into the ongoing lawsuit and focused on promoting her brand’s new line of shapewear-influenced swimwear.

Regarding the lawsuit with her former backup dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against Lizzo in 2023, accusing her of creating a hostile work environment and sexual harassment. Lizzo, along with dance captain Shirlene Quigley and her production company, denied the allegations against them and were looking to dismiss the lawsuit. However, a judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court denied Lizzo’s request to throw out the lawsuit, although some of the accusations against her were dismissed. Lizzo’s spokesperson expressed gratitude for the judge’s decision and planned to appeal the remaining elements of the lawsuit, confident in a positive outcome.

In addition to the lawsuit with her dancers, Lizzo is also facing legal action from a former employee, fashion designer Asha Daniels. Daniels accuses the singer of permitting bullying, harassment, and racial discrimination on her tour, particularly through wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura’s offensive behavior. Nomura allegedly made inappropriate comments and forced performers to change in front of a lewd and predominantly white, male stage crew. Lizzo’s spokesperson dismissed the lawsuit as a publicity stunt from someone who had not interacted with the singer. The legal proceedings shed light on the complexities and challenges within Lizzo’s professional life, threatening to tarnish her reputation and impact her career in the music and fashion industries.
