In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Lee Greenwood discussed his commitment to supporting America’s veterans by providing new homes for those who have served with distinction and honor. The concert “An All-Star Salute to Lee Greenwood,” filmed in Huntsville, Alabama, featured 40 different singers and the proceeds from the DVD sales will go toward helping veterans. Greenwood has a long history of supporting the military, having written “God Bless the USA” in 1983, which has become one of the most recognizable patriotic songs in America.

His passion for helping veterans stems from his interactions with military personnel during his time as a drum major in high school and having a father who served in the U.S. Navy. Greenwood has spearheaded the initiative to build homes for wounded warriors over the past 15 years, constructing over 220 homes for deserving veterans. The upcoming DVD sale is aimed at raising funds to build additional homes for those who have served the country.

Despite being in his 80s, Greenwood has no plans to retire anytime soon and remains dedicated to his music career. He credits his positive attitude and motivation to his family, particularly his wife, who has been a strong support system throughout his career. He emphasizes the importance of family and staying connected, even with his sons living in different cities, as a source of inspiration and energy for him to continue his work.

Greenwood, known for his conservative Christian values, mentioned his willingness to support political candidates aligned with his beliefs. He has performed at rallies for former President Trump and noted that he would support a challenger if their platform resonated with his values. Despite considering retirement at some point in the future, Greenwood currently sees no reason to end his music career, especially with the potential impact of the upcoming presidential election.

Greenwood expressed his pride in being an American, highlighting the importance of national unity and patriotism. He believes that new immigrants have a better understanding of what it means to be American when they hear his song “God Bless the USA.” His faith in the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights gives him hope for the future of America, despite the current challenges the country faces.

As a message to America’s veterans, Greenwood wants them to know that the entire country appreciates their service and sacrifices. He acknowledges the struggles veterans face, both during their service and after returning home, and encourages them to remember that their efforts are valued by the American people. By supporting initiatives like the sale of his DVD, Greenwood hopes to continue providing assistance and resources to veterans in need as a way of showing gratitude for their dedication to the country.
