According to DAWN, the victim in this case was allegedly pressured to settle for RM800. In addition, the driver was asked to return to the police station after being treated at the hospital, where he was asked to surrender his phone. The victim received no explanation for the phone inspection or the prolonged retention of his phone. He requested his phone to make a call to his wife but was declined. The deaf advocacy body raised concerns about the victim’s privacy being violated.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa stated that the complainant made a second police report on May 28, stating that the matter had been resolved amicably. Tunku Ismail, the Johor regent, was informed of the incident on Wednesday and urged the Royal Malaysian Police to cooperate with investigations. He does not condone any illegal action and wants justice for the victim. The regent expressed hope that the authorities would take action in accordance with the law.

Before Tunku Ismail’s social media post on the incident, Member of Parliament Hassan Abdul Karim issued a statement questioning the police’s decision to resolve the case without further investigation. The opposition coalition PN also called for the police to proceed with investigations regardless of the parties involved. They emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and the role of authorities as protectors of public interest.

Malaysian police chief Razarudin Husain announced that all police officers involved in the case would be questioned over the disabled driver’s claims of feeling pressured into a settlement. Federal police are now investigating the allegation and are prepared to take stern action against any officers found guilty of breaching the law. The main focus of the investigation is to ensure that wrongdoers are held accountable for their actions. Razarudin also stated that if an officer in the Johor regent’s police escort team is confirmed to have assaulted the disabled driver, stern action will be taken against them.
