Blackpink singer Jennie has made history on the Hot 100 chart with her hit single “One of the Girls.” The song has now spent 20 weeks on the Hot 100, making it the longest-charting hit of all time among solo musicians from South Korea on Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S. Jennie’s track breaks the tie with Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You,” which held the previous record with 19 weeks on the chart.

With “Standing Next to You” now surpassed by “One of the Girls,” Jung Kook’s top 10 hit becomes the second-longest-charting song by a solo artist from South Korea on the Hot 100. Despite its long run on the chart, “One of the Girls” is starting to decline in rank, currently sitting at No. 97 on the Hot 100. It is expected to drop off the chart soon, so achieving this milestone at this time is significant for Jennie.

“One of the Girls” was released as a single from The Weeknd’s EP connected to his TV series, The Idol. The Weeknd co-wrote and co-produced the song, which also credits Lily Rose Depp as a featured act. While The Idol received mixed reviews and was not renewed for a second season, some of the songs, including Jennie’s, have become successful on the Hot 100 chart.

In addition to its decline on the Hot 100, “One of the Girls” is also dropping on other Billboard tallies. This week, the single falls from No. 21 to No. 25 on the Pop Airplay tally and from No. 8 to No. 13 on the R&B Streaming Songs chart. Despite its decrease in rankings, the song’s historic achievement on the Hot 100 solidifies Jennie’s status in the music industry.

Jennie’s success on the Hot 100 adds to Blackpink’s impressive track record, demonstrating the group’s influence and popularity in the U.S. music market. With her solo hit continuing to make waves on the charts, Jennie’s future as a solo artist looks promising, and fans can expect more groundbreaking achievements in the years to come.

Overall, Jennie’s milestone on the Hot 100 further showcases the global impact of K-pop artists in the music industry. As South Korean musicians continue to make their mark on the U.S. charts, Jennie’s record-breaking feat serves as a testament to the talent and appeal of artists like her. Despite the eventual fall of “One of the Girls” on the Hot 100, the song’s legacy and Jennie’s achievement will be remembered as a significant moment in music history.
