Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are going through a divorce after five years of marriage. Taylor expressed understanding for Cartwright’s decision and hopes to maintain an amicable relationship for the sake of their 3-year-old son, Cruz. Taylor also addressed his recent 30-day stay at an in-patient treatment facility, during which he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He shared that he is now on medication that has been helping him and plans to speak more openly about his mental health struggles in the future.

Cartwright filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and is seeking primary custody of Cruz, with visitation for Taylor. She does not want spousal support from Taylor. This decision came nearly one month after Taylor voluntarily entered treatment for his mental health struggles. In the past, Cartwright expressed that she wanted to see more effort from Taylor and noted that their coparenting relationship was going well despite their marital issues.

The couple met in Las Vegas in 2015 and appeared on Vanderpump Rules together. They also starred in their own spinoff show and got engaged in 2018, followed by their wedding officiated by Lance Bass in 2019. They welcomed their son Cruz in 2021 and launched a podcast together in 2023. After their separation was announced, they continued to work together on their podcast, but Cartwright confirmed that they would be recording separately moving forward.

Taylor has been open about his mental health struggles on his podcast, leading up to his decision to seek in-patient treatment. A representative for Taylor stated that this is a sensitive time for him and his family, asking for privacy until he is ready to speak more about the matter. Cartwright has expressed that if the divorce goes through, they will discuss it with Cruz when he is older. Despite their relationship issues, they are focusing on coparenting and ensuring that Cruz is happy and well taken care of during this difficult time.
