The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently provided new intelligence on Hezbollah’s financial network, as they continue to eliminate threats from Hamas and other terrorist groups. The IDF spokesperson, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, revealed information about how Hezbollah funds its terrorist activities through the institution Al-Qard Al-Hasan. This organization provides financial services to Lebanese civilians and pays the salaries of Hezbollah operatives. The financial network is supported by money from the Iranian regime and the Lebanese people, violating international law.
Al-Qard Al-Hasan is registered as a charitable non-profit in Lebanon but is used by Hezbollah to generate funds for terrorist activities. The Iranian Quds Force transfers money to Hezbollah from Iranian oil sales in Syria, and also sends cash and gold by plane to the Iranian embassy in Beirut to support Hezbollah. Additionally, Hezbollah has built factories in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Turkey to generate cash to fund their operations. This financial arm poses a threat to the Lebanese economy, as bringing Iranian money into circulation can devalue the Lebanese pound.
The IDF’s operations against Hezbollah’s financial network have intensified, with airstrikes targeting Al-Qard Al-Hasan buildings in Lebanon. The military continues to take action against Hezbollah to ensure the safety and security of residents in northern Israel. While emphasizing that they are not at war with the people of Lebanon, Hagari reiterated that their focus is on combating Hezbollah and its terrorist activities. The IDF’s efforts in Lebanon come three weeks after the start of ground operations in the region.
Overall, the IDF’s latest intelligence briefing sheds light on how Hezbollah utilizes financial resources to fund terrorist activities, highlighting the organization’s reliance on Iranian support and operations in various countries to generate funds. The Israeli military’s actions against Hezbollah’s financial network aim to protect Israeli residents from threats posed by the terrorist group. By targeting Al-Qard Al-Hasan buildings in Lebanon, the IDF is working to disrupt Hezbollah’s financial operations and weaken their ability to carry out attacks in the region.
