The highly anticipated third season of “Euphoria” has been delayed until 2025, meaning fans will have to wait three and a half years since the last season. While HBO insists that the season is still happening, some are questioning if it should even proceed at this point.

Variety’s report suggests that season 3 will include a multi-year time jump to age the characters out of high school and into their twenties, as the actors playing the teens are now in their late twenties in real life. Zendaya, who has input in the show’s direction, had to help reshape the season after the tragic death of Angus Cloud, a key character in the initial concept.

Several unusual ideas were proposed for season 3, such as making Rue a background character working as a detective or a sober surrogate mother. However, all these concepts were rejected by HBO. Despite script delays, the main cast, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney, insisted on waiting for the original creator, Sam Levinson, to finalize the script.

A report from The Daily Beast suggests that some cast members doubt if season 3 will even happen in the end. Due to the delay, the actors are now free from their contracts and can pursue other projects that pay higher than “Euphoria.” It seems that the cast members no longer rely on the show as a launchpad for their careers.

Despite the setbacks, the cast remains supportive of Levinson, and there seems to be no animosity towards him. However, with delays persisting and only six episodes planned for the new season after a long wait, some are questioning if it’s time to move on from “Euphoria.” The show had a good run, but it may be time to accept that season 3 may not come to fruition given the circumstances.
