China launched the Chang’e-6 uncrewed spacecraft on a mission to retrieve rocks and soil from the far side of the moon, making it the first country to attempt such a task. The Long March-5 rocket carrying the more than 8 metric ton probe took off from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan.
