Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was released from prison in December after serving seven years for her involvement in her mother’s murder, has announced her separation from husband Ryan Anderson on a private Facebook group. The couple initially exchanged vows in a private ceremony within the prison walls in July 2022, with plans to have a traditional celebration upon Gypsy’s early release. Gypsy has hinted at stepping back from the public eye, deleting her social media accounts and citing the public scrutiny she faces as a reason for wanting privacy.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s imprisonment was the result of being a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy at the hands of her mother, who subjected her to unnecessary medical procedures and falsely claimed she suffered from numerous illnesses. Blanchard’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, was convicted of her mother’s murder and sentenced to life without parole in 2019. Blanchard is leaning on her family and friends for support during this time of separation, as she tries to find herself and determine who she is without her husband.

The couple’s unexpected split comes just three months after Blanchard’s early release from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. Despite initial plans for a traditional celebration of their union, Blanchard and Anderson are now going their separate ways as Blanchard moves in with her parents in the bayou. The announcement of their separation was made by Gypsy on her private Facebook account, where she expressed the need for time to find herself and listen to her heart. Anderson has not publicly commented on the split.

Throughout their time together, Blanchard and Anderson shared their experiences post-prison on public platforms and attended events, with Blanchard hinting at the pressures of public scrutiny in a since-deleted TikTok video. She expressed wanting to live her life away from the microscope of the public eye, which may have contributed to her decision to delete her social media accounts. With her history of abuse and traumatic past, Blanchard is taking steps to prioritize her well-being and mental health during this challenging time of separation.

Despite the unexpected end to her marriage, Blanchard is surrounded by a supportive network of family and friends who are guiding her through this difficult period as she navigates life without her husband. As she takes the time to reflect on her identity and find herself outside of her marriage, Blanchard remains grateful for the support and love she receives from those closest to her. The split from Anderson marks a new chapter in Blanchard’s life as she focuses on self-discovery and healing from her tumultuous past.
