Actress Glenn Close expressed her belief that OJ Simpson was guilty of the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, during the 10th annual Breakthrough Prize ceremony. Close shared her thoughts on Simpson, who passed away at the age of 76, and expressed her hope for his children. Simpson leaves behind five children from two marriages, including Arnelle, Jason, Aaren, Sydney, and Justin. Close also recalled the infamous Ford Bronco car chase that followed Simpson’s failure to turn himself in to the police, noting that she was actually on stage in LA during the unfolding drama.

Close recounted the tense moments of the car chase, as she was performing in Sunset Boulevard in 1994 and was unsure of what was happening as Simpson appeared to threaten suicide. She remembered the chaos and media frenzy surrounding the chase, with helicopters in the sky and the knowledge that Simpson was the focal point of the ordeal. The chase came to an end when the Bronco returned to Simpson’s house and he eventually surrendered to the police. Although Simpson was acquitted of the murders, he was later found liable for the wrongful death and battery against Goldman.

Following Simpson’s death, reactions poured in from those connected to him and the case. Witness Kato Kaelin, who was renting Simpson’s guest house at the time of the murders, expressed his condolences to the Goldman and Brown families on Instagram. Sportscaster Bob Costas reflected on the stark contrast between the Simpson known prior to the trial and the man he believes committed murder. Costas acknowledged Simpson’s previous friendly demeanor but did not excuse his crimes. The Breakthrough Prize ceremony will be available for viewing on YouTube.

Close, having shared her views on Simpson, expressed her hope for closure and healing for the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The actress reflected on the impact of the case and the public’s fascination with the investigation and trial. The aftermath of Simpson’s trials and legal proceedings have left a lasting impact on those involved, including witnesses, families, and the public. Despite the verdicts and legal outcomes, the case remains a significant part of American history and continues to be a topic of discussion and reflection.
