Christian evangelist Franklin Graham recently announced the creation of the Billy Graham Defense Fund to promote religious liberty in the United Kingdom. The fund is partially funded by legal winnings awarded to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and will assist other Christians facing threats of silence due to cancel culture. Graham, president and CEO of the association and Samaritan’s Purse, hopes to enable others in the UK to preach their faith without fear following legal disputes that arose from dropped venues during his planned 2020 tour.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association received approximately $650,000 from legal cases in the United Kingdom after facing cancellations due to religious discrimination. The organization also won a lawsuit in 2018 after Franklin Graham’s ads were removed from buses in Blackpool, England. With the establishment of the Billy Graham Defense Fund, Graham aims to support Christians in freely and boldly sharing the message of Jesus Christ in the UK, where true hope can be found. Following successful events in Glasgow and Birmingham, Franklin Graham plans to return to the UK in 2025 to preach in London.

Graham’s message of hope and faith resonated with attendees at his recent events in Glasgow and Birmingham. More than 7,500 people gathered at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow to hear Graham’s message, with over 8,300 attendees in Birmingham. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association partnered with over 320 churches in the area and provided free entry to both events, which featured performances by musicians Michael W. Smith and Dennis Agajanian. Attendees were encouraged to seek Jesus Christ for salvation and true hope in troubled times.

The events in Glasgow and Birmingham showcased the pressing need for a message of hope and salvation in the UK. Pastors and attendees expressed that society’s problems, such as depression and financial issues, can only be addressed by turning to Jesus. The events brought together diverse communities to hear the Gospel message and receive encouragement to boldly share their faith. Graham’s unwavering commitment to promoting religious freedom and sharing the love of Jesus Christ inspired attendees and church leaders to continue spreading the Good News in the face of adversity.

The success of Graham’s recent events and legal victories demonstrates the importance of defending religious freedom in the face of cancel culture and discrimination. The Billy Graham Defense Fund stands as a beacon of support for Christians in the UK who face threats of silence or persecution for their faith. By empowering believers to share their faith boldly and freely, Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association seek to bring hope and salvation to a society in need of Jesus Christ’s message of love and redemption. With plans to return to the UK in 2025, Graham remains committed to spreading the Gospel and standing up for religious liberty worldwide.
