Former President Donald Trump has demanded that President Joe Biden be drug-tested before their first debate. Fox News host Maria Bartiromo expressed skepticism about the claims of Biden’s drug use by Republicans, stating that they are not doctors. Both Trump and Biden are set to have their first debate on June 27 in Georgia. Trump referenced Biden’s State of the Union address and claimed he did not want Biden to come in “high as a kite.”

During a speech at the Minnesota GOP’s Lincoln Reagan Dinner, Trump demanded that Biden take a drug test ahead of the debate, claiming that Biden was “high as a kite” during his SOTU address. The former president’s remarks have sparked a debate about whether drug testing should be implemented. Representatives Byron Donalds and Anna Paulina Luna, both Florida Republicans, expressed agreement with the idea of drug testing before the debate, with Donalds suggesting that Biden may be using performance-enhancing drugs.

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo interviewed independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on her show about whether Biden should be drug tested. Kennedy Jr. laughed and did not answer, emphasizing that Biden should just participate in the debate. Biden’s State of the Union address received positive feedback and was considered a success by many, with polls showing strong support for the president’s performance.

Trump had previously suggested drug testing before debates in 2020 as well. He had demanded that Biden take a drug test before their debates during the 2020 election cycle, questioning the legitimacy of Biden’s performances. Biden’s deputy 2020 campaign manager refuted Trump’s claims, stating that Biden would deliver his debate answers with words and not urine. It is important to note that neither candidate took drug tests before the previous election cycle.

The debate over drug testing before presidential debates raises questions about the integrity of the candidates and their performances. Both Trump and Biden have faced scrutiny over their physical and mental health, with accusations flying from both sides. As the debate date approaches, the focus shifts to the candidates’ policies and ability to lead the country, rather than their personal health. The demand for drug testing serves as a reminder of the intense scrutiny that presidential candidates face in the lead-up to critical debates.
