Former NFL player Gosder Cherilus, who was accused of urinating on a passenger during a flight to Dublin, has broken his silence on social media. Cherilus, the 17th overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Detroit Lions, released a statement on social media explaining his behavior on the Delta Air Lines flight that led to his arrest. He claimed that after hours of delay, he took sleeping medication that caused him to behave in a way that was not representative of his character and apologized to the passengers and flight crew.

According to the police report, Cherilus appeared to be intoxicated when he boarded the plane and got into an argument with the flight crew about his seat. About an hour into the flight, it was alleged that he urinated on an elderly passenger, hit another passenger, took their seat, and then passed out. Cherilus was arraigned in court and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing a flight crew, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 11 for pretrial proceedings.

Cherilus, who is now 40 years old, played five seasons with the Lions and was primarily a starter on the offensive line. He later signed a five-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts but was released after his second season. Cherilus then spent two more years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring from the NFL in 2017. The Associated Press contributed to the reporting on this incident.

Despite his successful career in the NFL, Cherilus’s recent behavior on the flight to Dublin has garnered negative attention and legal repercussions. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold and what consequences Cherilus may face as a result of his actions. The incident has raised questions about the use of medication and alcohol during flights, as well as the responsibility of passengers to be mindful of their behavior while traveling.

Cherilus’s statement on social media seems to be an attempt to explain and apologize for his behavior on the flight. By acknowledging that he took a sleeping medication that he does not normally use, he is suggesting that this unexpected reaction was out of character for him. The incident has shed light on the importance of being aware of the effects of medications and substances when traveling, as they can impact behavior and interactions with others on flights.

As Cherilus awaits his next court appearance, the aftermath of this incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of unruly behavior on flights. It also raises questions about how incidents involving high-profile individuals like former NFL players are handled and what long-term effects they may have on their reputations and careers. Cherilus’s case highlights the need for passengers to prioritize safety and respect while traveling, and for individuals to take responsibility for their actions and the impact they have on those around them.
