A 13-year-old Florida boy has been charged with a felony after allegedly pointing a laser at a sheriff’s department helicopter. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported that the helicopter was in the sky around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday in Largo when a green laser lighting device was directed at the aircraft. Deputies in the helicopter were able to track the suspect and guide ground deputies to his location. In video footage released by the sheriff’s office, a deputy in the helicopter can be heard urging others to apprehend the suspect who was blinding the pilot.

While in the back of a squad car, he was recorded telling deputies that he did not realize it was a police helicopter.
