The family of late NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins is suing his widow over alleged “constant harassment” following his tragic death at age 24 in April 2022. The lawsuit claims that Haskins’ widow, Kalabrya Haskins, has been harassing his family whenever they attempt to reference his name, image, and likeness in public forums, such as social media. The suit alleges that Kalabrya contacted Instagram to have the accounts of Haskins’ parents disabled and challenged the establishment of the Haskins Family Foundation Inc. She also reportedly attempted to take a painting of the quarterback that belonged to his parents at a memorial in Maryland.

The estate of the late NFL quarterback reached a partial settlement last year with the driver of the truck that killed him, as well as its owner and broker, regarding the circumstances of his death. The family filed a lawsuit alleging that the driver was speeding, driving carelessly, and had a cargo load exceeding the legal weight limit. It was reported that at the time of his death, Haskins had a blood alcohol level of .20%, along with traces of ketamine and norketamine in his system. His lawyers claim he was targeted and drugged as part of a blackmail and robbery conspiracy, although no criminal charges have been filed related to those allegations.

Dwayne Haskins, who died just weeks before his 25th birthday, had a successful college football career at Ohio State, setting school passing records and being named MVP in both the Big Ten championship game and Rose Bowl win. He was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft by Washington but was released after two seasons in which he went 3-10. Haskins was then signed by Pittsburgh as a backup quarterback for the 2021 season, but he did not appear in any games.

Haskins’ family accuses his widow of refusing to provide an accurate accounting of his assets and estate, as well as withholding his ashes from them. The ongoing legal battles between the family and Kalabrya have led to a strained relationship, with accusations of harassment and attempts to suppress the family’s ability to honor his memory publicly. Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding his death and the subsequent legal disputes, there has been no resolution or closure for either the Haskins family or his widow.

The lawsuit filed by Haskins’ family sheds light on the complexities surrounding his untimely passing and the aftermath for those left behind. The legal battles and allegations of harassment and misconduct have only added to the grief and pain experienced by his loved ones. The ongoing feud between the family and Kalabrya has further complicated the process of mourning and healing, as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of a talented young athlete whose life was cut short. The conflicting narratives and allegations have muddied the waters further, leaving unanswered questions and unresolved emotions for all parties involved.

While Dwayne Haskins’ legacy on the football field may be remembered for his achievements and potential, the legal disputes and family turmoil following his death cast a shadow over his memory. The unresolved issues and ongoing tensions between his family and widow illustrate the difficulties of navigating grief and loss in the public eye. As the legal proceedings continue and the truth behind his tragic death remains elusive, the legacy of Dwayne Haskins is marred by controversy and discord, highlighting the complexities of life in the aftermath of a young athlete’s untimely passing.
