Mirra is a new virtual reality entertainment center opening in Bellevue that offers an immersive party game experience with original VR games designed for up to 32 people. The venue features a central screen that displays peaceful vistas when games are not in session, and teams of players can compete in 2-by-2 rounds of casual challenges. Attendees are equipped with Meta Quest 3 headsets and can play a variety of games that involve dodging obstacles, breaking bubbles, and playing virtual air hockey.

During a preview event at Mirra, attendees played a random round of four games, where points were awarded based on the final ranking of each player. The games featured at the event included Hyper Rhythm, Bubble Boom, Laser Room, and Hockey Smash, all developed in Unreal Engine. Players had to dodge in real life to avoid obstacles in virtual reality, move colored balls strategically to break bubbles, and compete in a high-speed air hockey match.

The preview event at Mirra concluded with a round of Hockey Smash that determined the winning team for the night. Attendees enjoyed a shareable fusion platter after the VR tournament, which included beef sliders, vegetarian flatbread pizza, and a mixed platter of various dishes. The venue aims to offer a variety of fusion cuisine from around the world, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options. Pricing for a night at Mirra is built around group activities and includes a drink, food platter, and an hour of VR gaming.

Mirra’s founder, Sam Wang, envisions the venue as the most immersive VR experience ever created, influenced by his background in the Chinese film industry and his previous involvement in the VR startup scene. The choice to open Mirra’s first location in Bellevue was based on the co-founders’ local ties and Wang’s affinity for Washington state. Wang and his team are focused on creating a unique and engaging VR gaming experience that can also cater to corporate events and interactive art presentations.

With a team of staff equipped to handle event bookings, Mirra is already attracting interest from groups looking to incorporate interactive multimedia presentations into their gatherings. The venue’s central screen, motion trackers, and immersive VR games make it an ideal space for team-building activities and corporate events. Christenhausen, an events organizer at Mirra, highlighted the potential for using tablet computers with the central screen for interactive art installations in addition to VR gaming. Mirra’s launch on August 31 promises an exciting experience for attendees looking to immerse themselves in a new world of virtual reality entertainment.
