Most of the cast members of ABC’s new drama Doctor Odyssey have never been on a cruise ship, despite the show being set on one. Joshua Jackson, who plays ship doctor Max Bankman, admitted that he hasn’t personally been on a cruise, although the director of the pilot episode, Paris Barclay, is a cruise enthusiast. Stephanie Shepherd, a guest star in the show, mentioned that she has only been on one cruise as a child and is not a fan of cruising, but would go on a cruise with Ryan Murphy. Chord Overstreet, another cast member, revealed that he hasn’t been on a cruise since he was a kid, but his brother is obsessed with cruising and he would go to the Caribbean if he were to go on one now.

Broadway star Phillipa Soo, who plays Nurse Avery Morgan on Doctor Odyssey, has also never been on a cruise. She mentioned that she has been on boats but not on a cruise where she sleeps there. If she were to go on a cruise, she would like to do a cruise along the coast of France, where there is a biking aspect involved. Sean Teale, who appears as Nurse Tristan Silva on the show, has never set foot on a cruise ship either. He joked that the hectic and stressful nature of cruises hasn’t convinced him to book a stateroom. However, if he were to go on a cruise, it would be on the Odyssey ship featured in the show.

While most of the Doctor Odyssey cast members have not been on a cruise, they all seemed open to the idea of possibly going on one in the future. Joshua Jackson mentioned that he has been on boats in the past and is fond of the coastal areas off the coast of Washington and British Columbia, indicating that he may enjoy a cruise through those waters. Stephanie Shepherd expressed interest in going on a cruise with Ryan Murphy, while Chord Overstreet and Phillipa Soo both shared potential cruise destinations they would consider. Sean Teale, although hesitant, admitted that if he were to go on a cruise, it would be on the Odyssey ship featured in the show.

The cast members of Doctor Odyssey’s lack of experience with cruises did not deter their excitement for the show and their roles on it. While their personal cruise ship bona fides may be limited, their eagerness to possibly embark on a cruise adventure in the future suggests a potential opportunity to experience the high seas firsthand. The variety of destinations and experiences mentioned by the cast members, from a coast of France bike cruise to a Caribbean getaway, showcases the diverse interests and preferences within the group. Overall, the cast of Doctor Odyssey may not have sailed the high seas, but their enthusiasm for the possibilities of cruising shines through their comments.
