A promotional NÜTRL branded tumbler was recalled in Canada due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to the release of contaminants. About 33,000 tumblers were distributed as a promotional gift at various liquor commissions and retailers between April 29 and May 17, 2024. Additionally, the chemicals may cause a reaction when coming into contact with the skin, resulting in blistering, burns, pain, and redness. The 30 oz. (887 ml) stainless steel cup was manufactured in China by Sunscope and was given to consumers as gifts with the purchase of a case of NÜTRL seltzers. Sunscope has received 43 reports from consumers who experienced symptoms such as headache, nausea, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea after using the recalled product.

Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the affected product and contact small claims assistance service Sedgwick for help. Consumers can call toll-free or email Sedgwick for assistance. Health Canada also encourages consumers to seek medical help if they experience any symptoms.
