Former President Donald Trump took a break from his ongoing criminal hush money trial in New York to attend his son Barron Trump’s graduation from a private high school in South Florida. Despite falsely claiming that the judge in the trial had prohibited him from attending the ceremony, Trump confirmed his attendance on social media and posted a photo of Barron collecting his diploma. Barron, Trump’s only son with current wife Melania Trump, graduated from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
The trial in New York, where Trump faces 34 felony counts for falsifying business records related to a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, did not meet on Friday following three days of witness testimony by his former fixer Michael Cohen. The trial has been ongoing and has garnered significant attention as one of the many legal challenges facing the former president.
Oxbridge Academy, where Barron graduated, has an annual tuition of $41,500, which includes various services such as meals, textbooks, and college counseling. In addition to the tuition, there are additional fees for enrollment and student services. The school is located near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, which is valued at an estimated $325 million and serves as one of the key properties in his real estate portfolio.
Leading up to the graduation, Trump’s attorneys had requested that he be allowed to skip proceedings in the trial on the day of Barron’s graduation. While the judge initially did not make a ruling on the request, he later announced that Trump would be allowed to miss the trial for the ceremony. This decision came after Trump had criticized the judge on social media, falsely claiming that he had been prohibited from attending the graduation. The former president’s son Eric Trump also criticized the judge in a social media post.
The hush money trial in New York has been a significant legal challenge for Trump, with his former fixer Michael Cohen testifying against him. The trial centers around allegations of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Despite the distractions of the trial, Trump took the time to attend his son’s graduation in South Florida, celebrating the milestone in Barron’s education. The former president’s presence at the graduation added a personal touch to an otherwise intense and high-profile legal battle.
