Don Lemon and his partner Tim Malone tied the knot on April 6 in New York City. The ceremony, attended by about 140 guests, took place at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and was officiated by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States ambassador to the United Nations. The wedding included marriage traditions from both Lemon and Malone’s cultures, with Malone’s sisters leading a big Irish blessing and the couple jumping over a broom at the end of the ceremony to pay respect to enslaved people in the American South.

The couple hired out the entire bottom floor of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar for the weekend, where they had their first date. Celebrity guests in attendance included Clive Davis, Joy Behar, Matt Laur, Darren Star, Tamron Hall, and Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, among others. Leading up to the wedding, Lemon and Malone shared their pre-wedding festivities on social media, including a pre-wedding call from Vice President Kamala Harris and outfits for their three dogs. Malone, who also celebrated his 40th birthday on the same day as the wedding, expressed the importance of having a large, traditional ceremony to make a public statement and involve their loved ones.

The couple began dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2019. Lemon shared in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly that the proposal from Malone was a heartfelt moment, with Malone expressing his love and desire to spend the rest of his life with Lemon. Lemon came out as gay in his 2011 memoir Transparent and acknowledged that the engagement made the relationship feel even more real and brought thoughts of marriage and children. Lemon described Malone as a sweet and great guy, and the couple’s relationship has been an amazing experience.

The Don Lemon Show host revealed his feelings of vulnerability and surprise when Malone proposed to him, noting that he was not expecting it to be a real and emotional moment. Despite initially feeling that his relationships would never be public or lead to marriage, Lemon expressed his happiness and gratitude for being able to legally marry and openly discuss his relationship. The couple’s love story and wedding ceremony signified a milestone in their relationship, allowing them to celebrate their commitment to each other in front of their loved ones and the world. Lemon and Malone’s wedding day was a joyous occasion filled with love, support, and cultural traditions that brought their families and friends together to celebrate their union.
