AI is making waves in the business world, with big names like JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and Elon Musk predicting transformative capabilities. However, the real question remains – how can AI tools benefit businesses right now? Google is one of the companies at the forefront of adding AI-driven features to their business applications. Gemini, Google’s AI Assistant for Workspace, offers various tools that can provide immediate value to businesses.

One of the new AI features offered by Google is Notes in Meet, which provides full transcriptions and summaries of Google Meet meetings, eliminating the need for manual note-taking. Another upcoming feature is Translate For Me, which automatically detects and translates captions in Meet in 69 languages, facilitating communication across language barriers. Chat Translations, set to be released later this year, will provide automatic translations of messages in Google Chat, making it easier to work with customers and suppliers in different languages.

Google is also offering a security AI tool that automatically classifies and protects sensitive files in Google Drive, aimed at IT teams within organizations. However, the effectiveness and value of this tool may require further investigation by the IT team, especially considering the additional cost for each user. Vids, an AI-powered video creation app, is set to be released in June and aims to simplify the video editing process by generating a storyboard and suggesting scenes, background music, and voiceovers. While the potential of this tool is promising, its actual value remains to be seen as AI tools evolve.

It is important for businesses to exercise caution when using AI tools labeled as “preview” or released in “Workspace Labs,” as these products may not be fully functional. Companies like Google are under pressure to deliver AI advancements quickly, leading to early product releases. However, getting familiar with these products early on can be beneficial as they continue to improve over time. While some AI tools may not be fully matured yet, companies can still explore and experiment with them to stay ahead of the curve in leveraging AI technology for business growth and efficiency.
