Former assistant Suzi Siegi shared her lack of surprise after a video surfaced showing rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs violently beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016. Siegi, who worked for Combs in 2008 and 2009, stated that she felt sick and angry after watching the video, emphasizing that the disturbing footage does not lie. She mentioned that she never saw Combs speak harshly to Ventura or be abusive during her time as his assistant.
During Siegi’s time as Combs’ assistant, she spent a lot of time with the couple in limos and at parties but did not witness any abusive behavior from the rapper. Despite not seeing any red flags during her interactions with Combs, Siegi mentioned that the power dynamic between Combs and a young Ventura was concerning. During their on-again, off-again relationship, Combs was 18 years older than Ventura and had control over her career due to her being signed with his label.
The security footage from the hotel showed Ventura fleeing Combs’ room barefoot, with Combs following her and violently attacking her. The video depicted Combs grabbing Ventura by the neck, slamming her to the ground, kicking her, dragging her by her sweatshirt, and throwing items at her while she was on the floor. These actions align with the allegations made by Ventura in a lawsuit against Combs, which was settled one day after being filed. Despite the disturbing nature of the video, the Los Angeles District Attorneys Office stated that they could not prosecute Combs as the incident occurred outside of the state’s statute of limitations for assault.
Combs has faced additional legal troubles since the video surfaced, with five lawsuits accusing him of rape, sexual misconduct, and other crimes being filed against him since November. In April, federal agents conducted raids on his California and Florida mansions as part of an investigation into human trafficking allegations. Despite these legal challenges, Combs has not been charged with any crimes and has denied all the allegations made against him. The incidents involving Ventura and the subsequent legal actions cast a shadow over Combs’ reputation and career in the music industry.
