Demi Engemann, star of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, revealed on a podcast that ketamine therapy has been instrumental in strengthening her marriage to husband Bret Engemann. She emphasized that they do not misuse the drug, but instead undergo therapy administered by a doctor through an IV. Ketamine is typically used for pain management or depression treatment, but Demi described it as a tool to help couples have deeper conversations and connect on a more intimate level. She shared that using ketamine therapy has allowed her and Bret to have heart-to-heart conversations and work through their issues together.

The therapy involves microdosing ketamine, which Demi believes is the safest form of anesthesia. She explained that the drug allows individuals to let down their guard and have open conversations without the constraints of pride or walls they may have built up. Demi expressed that she prefers to have therapy sessions with Bret present in the room, but sober. She also mentioned that her costar, Mayci Neeley, has tried the therapy and found it to be transformative, leading her to discover why she got divorced and become a new person as a result.

Demi and Bret, despite their 16-year age gap and previous divorces, have been married since April 2021. They have been trying to expand their family for the last four years, with no success so far due to fertility struggles. Demi shared that their attempts to have a child were documented on the show, including Bret providing a sample on camera. She admitted that the experience was not normal and did not have the desired effect of spicing up their sex life, but they are continuing to try and remain hopeful for the future.

Demi also mentioned that ketamine therapy has positively impacted their sex life, and Mayci agreed that it can enhance intimacy within a relationship. The therapy has allowed Demi and Bret to have deeper conversations and connect on a more meaningful level. While they have had their share of challenges, such as fertility struggles, they remain committed to each other and are hopeful for the future. The couple is determined to overcome any obstacles they face and continue to strengthen their bond through open communication and shared experiences.
