In 2024, several individuals are set to go on trial for their alleged crimes, including Chad Daybell, Lori Vallow, Sarah Boone, Richard Allen, and Bryan Kohberger. Daybell is being tried for the murders of his wife’s children and his former wife. Vallow was found guilty in May 2023 for the deaths of her two children and her husband. Boone is accused of killing her boyfriend by locking him in a suitcase, while Allen is the suspect in the 2017 murders of two teenage girls. Kohberger is facing charges in connection to the deaths of four University of Idaho students.

Daybell is currently on trial in Idaho, with his defense attorneys arguing for a separate trial due to conflicting defenses with Vallow’s case. Vallow was found guilty of multiple counts, including first-degree murder, for the deaths of her children. Boone has yet to begin her trial for the murder of her boyfriend, which was originally scheduled for April 2023. Allen’s trial is set for October 2024, following years of delays due to various issues, including his own incriminating statements.

Vallow was also found guilty of grand theft and conspiring to kill Daybell. After the disappearance of her children and the death of her former husband, Vallow and Daybell fled to Hawaii to get married. Vallow has also been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection to the deaths of her ex-husband and her niece’s ex-husband. Boone admitted to zipping her boyfriend into a suitcase during a drinking game gone wrong and has faced several delays in her trial due to lawyer withdrawals.

Allen has been linked to the 2017 murders of two girls due to a spent bullet found at the crime scene. He was first arrested in 2022, five years after the girls were found dead. Despite delays in his trial caused by attorney withdrawals, Allen is set to go on trial in October 2024. Kohberger, who allegedly killed four students near the University of Idaho campus, will likely not begin his trial until 2025. Evidence against him includes DNA found on a knife sheath under one of the victim’s bodies and cell phone pings placing him near the crime scene.

With trials ongoing or set to begin in the future, these cases offer a glimpse into the dark side of true crime. The details surrounding the murders and alleged crimes committed by Daybell, Vallow, Boone, Allen, and Kohberger continue to unfold, providing a closer look at the complexities and tragedies that can occur within the criminal justice system. As these trials progress, more information may come to light, shedding light on the circumstances that led to these individuals being brought to justice for their actions.
