A closed-door meeting was scheduled by a federal judge in New York following a request by lawyers for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign to withdraw from a gender discrimination lawsuit filed by former senior advisor Arlene “A.J.” Delgado. The law firm representing the campaign cited an irreparable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship as the reason for their withdrawal, and requested an in camera conference to explain the details of this breakdown to the court. Delgado’s lawsuit alleges that she was stripped of her job responsibilities and prevented from taking a job in the White House after revealing she was pregnant by a campaign advisor. The suit claims that an agreement to privately settle her complaint was reneged upon by the defendants.

Magistrate Judge Katharine Parker announced that the in camera conference on the firm’s request to withdraw from the case would take place with the defendants and their attorneys, excluding Delgado. Delgado objected to the firm’s motion to withdraw, pointing out that they had represented the Trump Campaign in the matter for nearly seven years, and the timing of their withdrawal motion coincided with upcoming key information due to be produced as per a court order. She questioned the sudden breakdown in the attorney-client relationship that led to the withdrawal motion, as it seemed suspicious to her.

Delgado is representing herself in the gender discrimination lawsuit filed in 2019, which includes defendants such as Donald J. Trump For President, Inc., former Trump White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, former White House advisor Steve Bannon, and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. The lawsuit alleges that Delgado was discriminated against based on her gender and pregnancy, leading to her being removed from her job responsibilities and a White House position. The defendants are accused of breaking a settlement agreement reached in 2017 to resolve the complaint privately.

The request by the law firm representing the Trump Campaign to withdraw from the gender discrimination lawsuit filed by A.J. Delgado, citing an irreparable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship, has led to a closed-door meeting scheduled by a federal judge to discuss the matter. Delgado objected to the withdrawal motion, questioning the timing of it and the sudden breakdown in the relationship. The lawsuit alleges that Delgado was discriminated against because of her gender and pregnancy, which resulted in her losing her job responsibilities and a potential White House position. The in camera conference is expected to shed light on the reasons behind the law firm’s request to withdraw from the case.
