Sydneysiders experienced beautiful weather over the Easter weekend, with clear skies, no breeze, and temperatures reaching 27 degrees. Good Friday and Easter Saturday were particularly popular for outdoor activities, with crowds flocking to beaches, parks, and markets. The forecast for Easter Sunday was expected to be much the same, with a chance of some fog in the western suburbs. The Bureau of Meteorology predicted warm weather continuing into Monday, with a high of 27 degrees, before a slight shift on Tuesday as people returned to work. While it was unlikely to reach the mid-30s temperatures experienced earlier in the year, the occasional warm day was still possible.

The Easter weekend also saw the launch of the weekly Green Square Market in Zetland, a suburb in south Sydney. Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore attended the market’s inaugural Saturday opening, adding to the festive atmosphere. However, not all activities were without warnings, as swimmers at Woolwich Baths were cautioned about the presence of a potentially deadly blue-ringed octopus in the harbour pool. The warning came after a young boy had picked up the sea creature on Thursday and had to be taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Despite the potential dangers, many Sydneysiders took advantage of the sunny weather and flocked to outdoor spaces to enjoy the long weekend. Manly Corso was bustling on Good Friday, with people making the most of the warm temperatures and clear skies. The perfect weather conditions made it an ideal time for beach visits, picnics in the park, and exploring local markets. With the beautiful weather forecasted to continue into Easter Sunday and even Monday, many were looking forward to spending more time outdoors with family and friends.

The positive weather outlook for the Easter weekend was a welcome change for Sydneysiders who had experienced hotter temperatures earlier in the year. While the mid-30s were not expected over the holiday weekend, the occasional warm day could still occur. This allowed residents and visitors to make the most of the comfortable conditions and partake in various outdoor activities without the discomfort of extreme heat. The opportunity to enjoy the autumn weather and participate in community events like the Green Square Market added to the festive atmosphere of the Easter holiday in Sydney.

As the holiday weekend came to a close, people savored the last moments of warmth and sunshine before returning to work. The predicted shift in weather on Tuesday, with warmer and windier conditions, hinted at the transition into the new week. Despite the inevitability of the return to routine, the memories of the pleasant Easter weekend and the chance to relax and unwind under the blue skies were treasured by many. The cautionary note about the blue-ringed octopus served as a reminder of the delicate balance between enjoying nature and being mindful of potential risks, adding a touch of excitement and awareness to the Easter festivities in Sydney.
