Former CIA officer Brian Jeffrey Raymond has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to drugging and sexually abusing multiple women in various countries over a 14-year period. He was found with over 500 disturbing images and videos of his victims. The sentencing judge described him as a sexual predator and emphasized the consequences of his actions.

Raymond, who served over 20 years in the CIA, had been on assignments in Mexico, Peru, and other undisclosed locations between 2006 and 2020. He targeted women through dating apps and casual encounters, sometimes luring them to his government-leased housing where he would drug, sexually abuse, and photograph them without their knowledge. Some victims had known him for years as platonic friends.

During his sentencing, US Attorney Matthew M. Graves revealed that Raymond drugged and sexually abused the women after luring them to his home. Many of the victims only discovered they had been assaulted after seeing photos of themselves unconscious and being attacked. Some of the victims shared the emotional and psychological damage they had suffered because of Raymond’s actions, including nightmares, nervous breakdowns, and suicidal thoughts.

The investigation into Raymond’s crimes began in May 2020 after Mexico City police responded to calls about a naked woman screaming for help from his apartment balcony. Despite initially claiming the incident was consensual, Raymond returned to the US as the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown began. Investigators obtained a warrant to search his phones and recovered over 500 images and videos of his crimes. Raymond later attempted to delete the incriminating evidence but was unsuccessful.

During his sentencing hearing, Raymond apologized to his victims, taking responsibility for his actions and acknowledging the pain he had caused. As part of his sentence, he has been ordered to pay $10,000 to each of his 28 identified victims and register as a sex offender. The CIA condemned his behavior, stating there was no excuse for his actions and expressing a commitment to cooperating with law enforcement. Raymond will spend the next 30 years behind bars for his heinous crimes.
