Céline Dion made a promise to her fans at the New York City premiere of a documentary about her life that she hoped to return to performing very soon. The emotional singer expressed her gratitude to the audience and her family for their support throughout the years. Battling stiff-person syndrome, Dion attended the screening with her son René-Charles. The film, titled I Am: Céline Dion, is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on June 25.

At the Lincoln Center screening, Dion became emotional while speaking in front of the crowd, stating that she couldn’t believe how fortunate she was to have her family in her life. Her fans were also thanked for their continuous love and support throughout her career. Despite her health condition, Dion remains determined to continue with her career and stated in an interview that she would go back on stage, even if she had to crawl or talk with her hands. The singer announced her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in December 2022 and has been working with doctors and therapists to improve her condition.

During a sit-down interview with Hoda Kotb, Dion revealed that she did not take the time to accept her diagnosis, as she was busy taking care of her husband and longtime manager, René Angélil, who passed away in 2016 after a battle with cancer. Dion expressed the difficulty of hiding her health struggles and the burden of lying about her condition to the people who supported her throughout her career. She likened singing with stiff-person syndrome to feeling like someone is strangling her and described the spasms that occur in various parts of her body.

Despite the challenges she faces, a source close to Dion revealed that she is a fighter who is working diligently with medical professionals to improve her condition. The singer’s determination and resilience have been evident throughout her career, and she has shown a willingness to continue performing for her fans. Dion’s love and appreciation for her supporters were evident during the premiere of the documentary about her life, where she expressed her gratitude for their unwavering love and support over the years. With the support of her family and fans, Dion remains hopeful and committed to returning to the stage soon.
