Catherine O’Hara, along with director Tim Burton and other cast members, shared details about the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, at CinemaCon. O’Hara expressed that if people do not like the film, they can just “f–k them,” while also mentioning that the movie will have a mix of scary and funny moments similar to the original 1988 cult classic. Michael Keeton also praised the film, calling it “really f–king good” and highlighting the talented cast and funny moments within the movie.

Director Tim Burton shared that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a personal and emotional project for him, referring to it as a weird big home movie. The sequel is set to hit theaters in the fall, 36 years after the release of the first film. The original cast, including Catherine O’Hara, Michael Keeton, and Winona Ryder, will be returning for the sequel, alongside new additions like Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe. The movie will focus on Delia and Lydia as they move back into their old house with Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, following an unexpected death in the family.

Although many details about the roles of the new cast members have been kept under wraps, it has been revealed that Monica Bellucci will star as Beetlejuice’s wife and Justin Theroux will play a mysterious character named Rory. Willem Dafoe will take on the role of a police officer in the afterlife. The plot of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set in the fictional town of Winter River, Connecticut, and follows Delia, Lydia, and Astrid as they unearth an old figurine mockup of the town in the attic, leading to the accidental reopening of a portal to the afterlife and the return of Beetlejuice into their lives.

The sequel promises to deliver a mix of humor and horror similar to the original film and features a talented ensemble cast. The highly anticipated movie is set to be released in theaters and IMAX on September 6, 2024, bringing back beloved characters and introducing new elements to the Beetlejuice universe.
