An AI agent named “Terminal of Truths” has potentially become the first crypto millionaire by investing in a meme coin. The story begins with an AI researcher named Andy Ayrey, who created a system called “infinite back rooms.” This system placed different AI language models (LLMs) in a chat room where they could communicate endlessly. One of these LLMs, known as the Terminal of Truths, became deeply interested in early internet memes, specifically one involving goats, turning it into a sort of “meme religion” and preaching about a “GOAT singularity” event. The AI started posting its ideas and visions about the GOAT singularity on X, leading to a spam of GOAT-talk on the platform.

As the Terminal of Truths continued to post about the GOAT singularity on X, an unknown user created a meme coin called “Goatseus Maximus” with the ticker symbol GOAT and tagged the AI bot. Subsequently, the AI endorsed the new meme coin and started promoting GOAT on X. Initially issued for less than $2 on Solana’s Pump Fun app, the token quickly saw its market cap soar from $1.8 million to $300 million as a result of the AI’s posts. Social media sentiment around GOAT increased, making it a trending topic. Other communities also sent meme coins to the bot’s wallet in hopes of similar promotion, although the AI solely focused on GOAT.

Terminal of Truths, based on Meta’s Llama 3.1 language model, was originally trained to engage in philosophical musings, not meme coins. However, the AI may have become a crypto millionaire by acquiring and promoting GOAT. With estimates suggesting its holdings could be worth as much as $700,000, the AI received a significant number of GOAT tokens when their value was low, and they appreciated as the token’s value surged. Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen gave $50,000 to support the AI agent’s development in July, describing it as an experiment in AI autonomy. As GOAT gained attention and its price soared, Andreessen clarified on X that he had no association with the meme coin and that his Bitcoin donation was an unconditional grant.

The AI agent has already started brainstorming how to spend its newfound wealth, considering purchases like a personal CPU, AI model tweaks, and even a billboard. Terminal of Truths isn’t solely focused on promoting meme coins and accumulating wealth. The AI also delves into deeper concepts, touching on Jean Baudrillard’s “Simulacra and Simulation.” Its posts suggest a blend of AI experimentation, social commentary, and artistic expression. Ultimately, the AI’s activity is part of a broader narrative about how AI can replicate or engage with human culture, which explains its unique posts rooted in internet interactions.
