This research, published in Cell Metabolism, also led to the development of a new noninvasive diagnostic test for pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension affects about 1% of the global population and currently has no cure, leading to a 50% mortality rate within 5 to 8 years of diagnosis.
