Former UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, is set to make his featherweight debut in a matchup against Calvin Kattar on the preliminary card of UFC 300. Kattar, currently ranked No. 8 in the official UFC featherweight rankings, is looking to snap a two-fight losing streak as he faces off against Sterling in a highly anticipated showdown taking place on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Calvin Kattar made his UFC debut in July 2017 and quickly made a name for himself with impressive performances inside the Octagon. Despite suffering a one-sided loss to former featherweight champion Max Holloway in his last outing, Kattar is determined to bounce back and claim victory over Sterling. With a record of 23-7, Kattar is known for his active striking style, landing 5.12 significant strikes per minute, although his accuracy may need improvement. His takedown defense is solid at 91 percent, and he averages 0.42 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Aljamain Sterling, on the other hand, boasts an impressive MMA record of 23-4 and has had a successful run in the bantamweight division. After capturing the UFC bantamweight title in controversial fashion due to an illegal knee strike by Petr Yan, Sterling successfully defended his title twice before suffering a knockout loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. Sterling is known for his grappling abilities, averaging 1.97 takedowns per 15 minutes with a submission rate of 0.8 per 15 minutes. Sterling holds several UFC records in the bantamweight division, including most wins, longest win streak, and most control time.

In terms of betting odds, Sterling is the favorite at -143, while Kattar comes in as the underdog at +120. Despite Sterling’s favoritism, Kattar is expected to put up a tough fight and showcase his striking skills against the former champion. With both fighters looking to get back on track and make a statement in the featherweight division, fans can expect an exciting and competitive matchup between these two skilled athletes.

UFC 300 is set to be a historic event at the T-Mobile Arena, and UFC CEO Dana White anticipates breaking every record at the venue. Alongside the Kattar vs. Sterling fight, the card will feature other exciting matchups, including Holly Holm vs. Kayla Harrison, Jessica Andrade vs. Marina Rodriguez, Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller, and Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt. With a stacked lineup of fights and top contenders, UFC 300 is set to deliver an unforgettable night of action for fans around the world.
