Brooke Shields, a well-known actress, recently revealed on Instagram that her daughter Grier, 18, has left for college, making her officially an empty nester as both of her daughters are now pursuing higher education. Grier followed in her older sister Rowan’s footsteps by attending Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Shields filmed herself on her front porch, breaking down in tears as she expressed the difficulty of her daughters leaving for college. She shared that it was a emotional experience dropping Grier off at college and that she cried for a good portion of the ride home.

Shields shared a humorous video of herself dropping Grier off at college, jokingly captioning it “Start the car! Last one off to college.” She previously described Rowan leaving for college in 2021 as the worst thing she had ever experienced, highlighting the emotional toll it took on her as a mother. Despite the heartache of seeing her daughters leave the nest, Shields recognized that they were blossoming and growing as individuals, with Rowan demonstrating her independence and maturity in college. She expressed her desire to support her daughters in living their lives while also acknowledging the difficulty of letting go.

In an interview, Shields reflected on the key to her successful marriage to her husband, Chris Henchy, whom she married in 2001. She emphasized the importance of having forgiveness in one’s heart while also communicating openly about any issues that arise in the relationship. Shields advised against simply giving forgiveness without addressing underlying problems, emphasizing the need for honest and open communication to maintain a healthy and lasting marriage. This approach to forgiveness and communication has helped Shields and Henchy sustain their marriage over the years.

As Shields navigates the transition to being an empty nester, she expressed both the emotional challenges and the pride she feels in seeing her daughters embark on their college journeys. She shared her personal experience of dropping her daughters off at college and the emotions that accompanied that momentous event. Shields remains supportive of her daughters as they navigate college life and continue to grow as individuals, reflecting on the changes that come with them establishing their own lives outside of the family home. Shields finds comfort in knowing that she has raised strong, independent daughters who are ready to embrace the next chapter in their lives.
