Brinc, a public safety technology company based in Seattle, recently announced the launch of a new software platform called LiveOps. This platform is designed to manage and monitor drone fleets, offering features such as live streaming, real-time maps, communications, and evidence storage. The browser-based software expands Brinc’s services beyond drone pilots to include crisis negotiations specialists, command staff, and other members of emergency response teams. LiveOps provides independent feeds for each team member, separate from what a drone operator is seeing during an incident.
The inclusion of evidence storage and management in the LiveOps software brings Brinc into competition with Axon, a company known for its body cameras and Tasers. Axon’s Evidence.com platform is widely used by police, and with Brinc now offering similar capabilities, the two companies may find themselves competing for market share in this space. Brinc will be providing LiveOps as part of its core offering to public safety agencies, alongside existing services such as unlimited repair and replacement, training, and hardware upgrades. CEO Blake Resnick confirmed that LiveOps will be included with these offerings, but did not provide specific pricing details for the software.
Brinc’s fleet of drones, including the Lemur 2, are designed to assist first responders in dangerous situations. These drones offer a range of capabilities, such as breaking through glass, flipping after a crash, seeing in the dark, and communicating via microphone. In addition to drones, Brinc also offers a two-way communications device called the Brinc Ball, which can be used during standoffs or other critical situations. The company’s focus on providing cutting-edge technology for public safety agencies has garnered significant attention and support from investors.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, Brinc has raised over $80 million in total funding. Backers of the company include Index Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, and Next Play Ventures, a firm founded by former LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was also an early investor in Brinc, signaling the company’s potential for growth and innovation in the public safety technology sector. With the launch of LiveOps, Brinc is poised to expand its reach and impact in the field of drone fleet management and emergency response technology.
