The White House has announced that the theme for its annual Easter Egg Roll this year will be “EGGucation,” with first lady Jill Biden hosting the event. The tradition, which has been held on the White House lawn since the late 19th century, will see the South Lawn and Ellipse transformed into a school community full of fun educational activities for children of all ages. The event is scheduled for April 1 and is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees from across the country.

In addition to the traditional egg roll and Easter egg hunt, the Easter Egg Roll will feature various activities, including a “PHYSICAL EGGucation (PE) Zone” and a “Field Trip to the Farm.” Children’s entertainment, such as educational acts and performances, will be showcased on a “School House stage” on the South Lawn. Military bands from the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Army will also be performing at the event, which will have approximately 40,000 participants, including military and veteran families, caregivers, and survivors.

Tickets for the general public were distributed through an online public lottery, allowing guests from across the country to attend the Easter Egg Roll. Various costumed characters will be present at the event for meet-and-greets with children, including Spongebob, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, the Lorax, The Minions, Wonder Woman, and multiple Major League Baseball mascots. The White House Easter Egg Roll was formalized by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878, following the popularity of similar traditions in other areas of Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Virginia.

The Easter Egg Roll will feature a range of activities aimed at promoting education and fun for children of all ages. With the theme of “EGGucation,” the event will provide a unique opportunity for kids to engage in educational activities while participating in traditional Easter festivities. The event will also showcase performances from military bands and various costumed characters for meet-and-greets, creating a fun and engaging experience for all attendees.

Mrs. Jill Biden’s background as a teacher for over 30 years makes the theme of “EGGucation” particularly fitting for this year’s Easter Egg Roll. The transformation of the White House grounds into a school community will provide a hands-on learning experience for children, fostering creativity and curiosity through a range of fun activities. The event is expected to attract a large turnout, with thousands of military and veteran families, caregivers, and survivors participating in the festivities.

The White House Easter Egg Roll has a long-standing tradition that dates back to the late 19th century and has been a popular event for families across the country. The event’s focus on education and entertainment reflects the importance of learning and enjoyment for children, creating a memorable experience for all attendees. With the inclusion of various activities and performances, the Easter Egg Roll promises to be a festive and engaging event that celebrates the spirit of Easter and the joy of learning.
