Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes confirmed that Rudy Giuliani has been indicted in connection to the 2020 election case involving former President Trump. Giuliani is the 18th defendant charged in the state’s fake electors case. Giuliani was served after his 80th birthday celebration as he was walking to the car and his political adviser Ted Goodman confirmed that they are looking forward to full vindication soon. The indictment includes charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery against Giuliani, alleging that he pressured Arizona legislators and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to change the outcome of the election. An unredacted copy of the indictment is set to be released on Monday and Giuliani is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House chief of staff, has also been indicted in the case, along with several other defendants, including 11 Arizona Republicans who submitted a document to Congress declaring that Trump won in Arizona in the 2020 presidential election. Additionally, the indictment names Mike Roman, who was Trump’s director of Election Day operations, and four attorneys accused of organizing an attempt to use fake documents to convince Congress not to certify Biden’s victory. Trump himself was not charged but was referred to as an unindicted co-conspirator. This is the fourth state where allies of the former president have been charged with spreading false claims about voter fraud.

Aside from the Arizona case, Giuliani faces other legal proceedings, including a bankruptcy filing after being ordered to pay $148 million to two former election workers for allegedly spreading false information about their role in the 2020 election. He was also indicted last year by a grand jury in Georgia. Despite the legal challenges he is facing, Giuliani seems to be maintaining a defiant attitude, as evidenced by his social media posts related to his birthday celebration. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold for Giuliani and the other defendants in the Arizona case.

The Arizona attorney general’s office noted that Giuliani and Meadows had not been named in the redacted grand jury indictment released earlier because they had not been served, but they were easily identifiable based on descriptions in the document. Rudy Giuliani’s other legal troubles in Georgia and his bankruptcy filing add to the mounting legal challenges he is facing. The indictment in Arizona alleges that Giuliani played a key role in pressuring officials to change the outcome of the election, as well as encouraging Republican electors in contested states to vote for Trump. As the unredacted indictment is set to be released and Giuliani prepares to appear in court, the legal battle surrounding the 2020 election continues to unfold for Giuliani and his co-defendants.

Giuliani’s indictment in Arizona is part of a larger trend of legal actions against allies of former President Trump related to spreading false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election. The indictment includes charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery against Giuliani, who is also facing legal challenges in Georgia and a bankruptcy filing. Despite these legal troubles, Giuliani remains defiant, celebrating his 80th birthday with friends and posting about the celebration on social media. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold for Giuliani and the other defendants in the Arizona case, as well as the broader implications for the ongoing discussion surrounding the 2020 election and voter fraud allegations.
