It wouldn\u2019t bother me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter, who wore the esteemed No. 11 at Penn State, quickly caught wind of Simms\u2019 approval and replied on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be an HONOR,\u201d Carter wrote, tagging Simms with the horns hand emoji.<\/p>\n<p>Simms and Taylor both retired after the 1993 season. Simms threw his commemorative \u201cfinal pass\u201d to Taylor during an on-field ceremony retiring his No. 11.<\/p>\n<p>Pressed on if he would really grant the Giants permission to un-retire No. 11 \u2013 as the family of the late Ray Flaherty did last year when No. 1 was given to rookie receiver Malik Nabers \u2013 Simms said that his\u00a0family and friends might object more than he does.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just whatever. I don\u2019t know,\u201d Simms said. \u201cIf they really want it. My wife, I don\u2019t know if my family said anything. The boys (three sons) didn\u2019t say anything. My agent (said), \u2018Don\u2019t you dare give up that jersey number.\u2019 Well, first off, I don\u2019t think Abdul Carter is going to ask for it, but, if he would\u2019ve, if it was up to me, I would probably give it to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hall of Famer Warren Moon allowed the Titans to unretire his No. 1 \u2013 worn when the Titans were the Houston Oilers \u2013 for quarterback Cam Ward.<\/p>\n<p>Dart wore No. 2 at Ole Miss.
