I\u2019ve flown across the country and 20 seconds in, he goes and he leans to the edge of his seat and says, \u2018So you want to play football?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m interested.\u2019 And he was like, \u2018We\u2019re going in a different direction at quarterback.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn\u2019t think it was a possibility, but shocked because I just flew across the country and you could\u2019ve just told me this over the phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On McAfree\u2019s show, Rodgers acknowledged he spoke with the Giants, Steelers and Vikings, though the Steelers are the only one of those three who still appear open to bringing Rodgers in.<\/p>\n<p>While Rooney left the door open to taking a quarterback on Day 3 of the draft, he said it would be a developmental pick if the Steelers went in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>The Steelers passed on Shedeur Sanders twice in the first three rounds despite being linked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really did not factor whether Aaron is coming or not,\u201d Rooney said. \u201cIf we draft a quarterback \u2014 and we still might \u2014 probably not someone who\u2019s going to start for us this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be somebody that will be developing and may play down the road.
