Reporting to an optional practice Sunday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale, Laviolette fielded a question about his job security for the second time this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think everything gets looked at when a year is not good like this,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not blind to anything. I love being here with these guys and the New York Rangers. It\u2019s a year where everything went right to a year where things didn\u2019t go right. When things don\u2019t go right, I\u2019m sure everything gets looked at. I\u2019m not naive. That being said, this is the place I want to be was New York City, the New York Rangers. It\u2019s a great organization, great city, great family.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just tough right now, everybody\u2019s faced with disappointment. Everybody I just mentioned is faced with disappointment today and I get that. There\u2019s always things that are looked at.\u201d<\/p>\n
Entering the final two games of the season, Laviolette owns a 92-59-11 record at the helm of the Rangers. During Laviolette\u2019s first season, the Rangers set franchise records in wins (55) and points (114) in a single season on the way to an Eastern Conference Final loss to the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.<\/p>\n
Laviolette last answered a question about remaining in his post in Nashville on Dec. 17, when the Rangers were 15-14-1 before losing to the then last-place Predators, 2-0.<\/p>\n
