Alex is going to play third, and [Devers] is going to DH. We all are in the winning business, and [Devers] understands that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Devers, shortly after the Bregman signing in mid-February, was steadfast in his belief that he should remain at the position he\u2019s called home for most of his big league career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThird base is my position,\u2019\u2019\u00a0Devers said through an interpreter at Red Sox camp. \u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019ve played. I don\u2019t know what their plans are. I know we had a conversation. I made it clear what my desires were, and yeah, whatever happens from here, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Devers ranked in the eighth percentile in outs above average, while Bregman graded in the 91st in the same category last season on MLB\u2019s Statcast.<\/p>\n<p>As the weeks moved along, though, Devers appeared to soften his stance and was more amenable to Bregman getting reps at third base. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe spoke already, and I\u2019m good to do whatever they want me to do,\u201d Devers told reporters earlier in March. \u201cI\u2019m here to help. I\u2019ve already spoken with them about that, and they know where I stand.
