But Holden fired off a letter Monday to Jelani Jefferson Exum, the law school\u2019s dean, alleging Balani\u2019s \u201cfitness for the legal profession\u201d is in serious question.<\/p>\n
Balani ripped Holden, a conservative Queens Democrat, on X as a \u201cscumbag,\u201d \u201ctwo-bit sanctimonious sleazebag\u201d and alleged the term-limited pol\u2019s \u201clegacy in the @NYCCouncil will be one of standing by and cheering on the rise of authoritarianism in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Balani also called Councilwoman Vicky Paladino (R-Queens) \u201cpond scum,\u201d a \u201cProud Boys-loving political hack\u201d and a \u201csickening Trump bootlicker,\u201d as well as seven other past and present councilmembers \u201ccranks\u201d and \u201cgrifters.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHis conduct not only contradicts St. John\u2019s Jesuit values, but also questions his fitness for the legal profession, necessitating your immediate review and disciplinary response,\u201d Holden told the dean.<\/p>\n
Balani\u2019s X account was shut down days after Holden formally lodged a complaint. <\/p>\n
The councilman also wrote a similar letter Monday to the human resources department of the New York Yankees, where Balani works as part-time special events staffer, demanding he be disciplined for likely violating conduct policies for MLB staffers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Yankees are a cornerstone of New York\u2019s community, valued for the professionalism and integrity,\u201d Holden wrote. \u201cYour Social Media Policy (MLB Social Media Policy) surely prohibits such conduct.\u201d <\/p>\n
Balani\u2019s LinkedIn profile highlights him as a \u201cresourceful sports business professional contributing to major sporting events and improving lives through the power of sport.\u201d<\/p>\n
It notes he began working for the Yankees in \u201cStadium Tours & Special Events\u201d three years ago and previously worked as event staffer at pro tennis events. He\u2019s also worked as an intern for the House of Representatives and was a campaign volunteer for Long Island Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi.<\/p>\n
Balani declined comment, and St. John\u2019s and the Yankees did not return messages.<\/p>\n
However Aryn Sobo, the Yankees vice president of Human Resources, wrote Holden an email he shared with The Post saying, \u201calthough [Balani] denied being responsible for the cited posts, we encouraged him to be thoughtful and respectful when posting, and he assured us he has and will continue to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
